Performance Shops in AZ, Phoenix Area?

Hey guys,
I need to get some suspension work done and want to take it to a shop to do. I have both coilovers and sway bars to do... Are there any shops that you would recommend in the phoenix area that can and will do a fantastic job? an alignment too i guess would be in order as well.

I forgot the name of the place that was recommended to me, but check out www.azbmw.org ... I think you can find some shop reviews from members here in AZ.

there is a place called Network Auto or just Network, in PHX. the Guy is Lonnie, tall skinny black guy. He handles lowered/aggressive setups. I used to take my WRX there.

I would check out good speed performance in Scottsdale. I had them replace my suspension to koni and they will do the alignment. Labor prices were very reasonable.

so I called 5 shops yesterday getting quotes for a kw v2 and h&r sway bars install... in a e93 2008.

the lowest I got was about 650 and the highest I got was 1150, just for labor. does that seem high to anyone else but me?

i got a lot of "well, with the swaybars there is a lot of time, need to drop the subframe, yada yada yada..."

is this a load of bull or will i seriously eff something up if I try it myself?

This^

Got by carbon fiber trunk installed there. Labor is very reasonable and they only charged me for 3 hours when it was about 4 1/2. Came out very nice.

I was quoted $750 for coilovers installed from Beyer Motor Works.

Yes I believe the rear sway bar is a pain in the ass ... btw there are good walkthru's on here you should be able to do the coil install yourself (with a help from a buddy) I changed out my shocks and have switched out two different sets of springs now

Matty they will not be cheap, but the one man in the shop has a e92 and has mods done they are VERY good.

Its on Raintree in Scottsdale near the 101. Called Dynocomp - Again wont be cheap but it will be right.

^ dynocomp was actually the most expensive at 1150 :O I don't think I'm prepared to pay that much for just labor. maybe if a happy ending was thrown in or something I wouldn't feel so bad about it

If I had to make a choice out of the ones that I called, Good Speed sounded the most professional over the phone, and they came in just over 700 for everything plus alignment

i just thought that was super high. why do people get quoted 200-400 for springs, but coilovers are more expensive to install. the only thing that's different is that there is a ride height adjustabililty collar... that's it.

i guess the sway bars really do take that much time. i wonder if it's worth it to still go through with the sway bar install

I don't how if you could of... everything besides the fitment of the trunk itself and the bolts to hold the trunk to the car (w/e those are, hydraulics?) were not fitting correctly. Down to the license plate bracket, the two holes where too big of it.

You cant go wrong with Goodspeed as they do amazing work for the Subaru Community. You can't go wrong with either shop as Rich from Dynocomp was my tuner and never did me wrong, a little pricy for dyno time but that comes with all the shops in Scottsdale.

Good luck with your search

AZ Bimmer in Mesa. I had my car there after I did my suspension work for a wheel alignment (they have a Hawk machine), you'll need one too. Reasonable prices. Talking with them about E90 problems and mods, were quite knowledgeable.

If I need any shop work done, this is the place I'm going too.

thanks for the tip. the cheapest quote I have gotten so far, and he said the alignments are only 75 regularly. I think that would save about 125 from dealership check up... Nick sounds real knowledgeable so I think I'm going to give him a shot. I'll post back up here after I take it in.

Cool.

btw, what are you doing for sways? I put the M-sport rear bar in that has helped a lot with the understeer. I believe the 93 already has a heavier rear bar, but perhaps that was for the M3 -- I was looking at those before going with the M-Sport.

i got the h&r front and rear. I don't believe they have any other options than the standard kit. there seems to be a bit of body roll with this car, despite the sport suspension, and it's actually somewhat unsettling to have it in a BMW. I am hoping that my kwv2's and the sways work together to give me a solid street set up.

Vivid Racing doesn't have the best reputation in the bimmer forums for the best customer service, but I got quoted by them to install KW V2s on my 135i for $500, that included alignment.

I haven't bought the coilovers yet, so I can't say anything about the install experience.

Vivid is pretty good, ask for Phil. Shop is cool to go visit. Lots of 911 turbo projects, and other high end stuff as of a week ago when I was there last.
