Carbon Fiber on Space Grey...Yes...No
Hey everyone currently right now im tryin to decide whether or not carbon fiber is going to look weird or a little off on a e90 space grey lci w/ shadow trim. Ive searched through the forums and a majority of the pictures are on white, black, silver vehicles. The reason why im asking is because im tryin to decide whether or not to go with the cf kidney grill or stick with the gloss black...if any of you have pictures of an sg w/ cf grills or gloss black that would be greatly appreciated.
Some of the future mods that i will do if i decide c/f looks good on sg are: C/F roundel M-tech rear bumper w/ cf diffuser ARP Custom c/f wind splitter for the bmw performance bumper (when i get the bumper) |

You need an aggressive car to pull off CF. My rule of thumb is if you don't have wheels, you shouldn't be rocking CF. It just doesn't look good on a stock car IMHO. Also, I personally dislike the CF roundels.

I'm personally wrapping my Grilles in 3M Di-Noc CF Film and painting the slats Matte Black. I've heard the Aftermarket CF Grilles turn yellowish on the clear-coat which is a huge waste of $200 when I can wrap them myself for about $10.
With regards to your question though, CF only looks good IMO if you continue the theme and have some darker wheels. I am AW with Matte Wheels so it works. If i could have any other color E92 it would be SG and YES I would make it aggresive and CF themed. |

Color matched grills is the cleanest look.

carbonfiber can almost match anything, but it depends how your overall car looks... And not just having carbon pieces on and looking out of place.

i think SG is too light to really rock larger CF items like lips/hood/trunk. And i agree with the earlier stated, your car should be pretty decked out to start adding CF accents IMO.
I went with a matte style for my interior trim and currently looking at having an amuse erricson trunk painted SG with a faded CF lip exposed. subtle is best for SG imo. Your car tho! |

I have a BMW Performance carbon fibre rear spoiler and a Duke Dynamics diffuser and love it. I just ordered the BMW Performance gloss black kidney grills to match the gloss black window trim.

I hear the conversation and i tend to agree that SG may be too light to pull of CF.
On that note, does anyone have pics of CF on SG? Specifically, I'd like to see the M3 Lip spoiler. Thanks PS. Sorry if i'm reviving an ol post (came up in the search)

I've seen a CF grill on SG, and that being the only CF mod, and it looks way out of place. But then as some say above, if the CF is made thru-out with some black thrown in (e.g., rims), it'll look sweet. Personnaly, gloss black would look better. Good choice.

SDFranco1 has a space gray e92 with glossy black accents + glossy black wheels. His car looks so sick! Go with glossy accents rather than CF, unless you plan to make your car SUPER aggressive.

CF on SG looks just fine, but it can be overdone. ive always felt that the key is to have parts compliment each other. i have a hamann diffusor, and then a cf m3 lip spoiler that is painted to expose just the very edge in CF. together, i think they look very good, and get compliments on it all the time. to that end, i took off the CSL trunk because i liked the lip spoiler better. being subtle with CF can produce what i would consider somewhat aggressive results without sacrificing a classy look. just my .02
