Wheel Offset question: from 34 to 20 ?

Hi Folks,

I have a set of 18" 193 wheels on my 335xi M sport package and am trying to get ready for winter...I am looking at a 17" setup for winter. I found a set of 17" replicas (I think they are 269 type - see attached), but there is a considerable offset difference:

Original (18"):
18x8J 34 offset
18x8.5 37 offset

Winter (17")
17x8 20 offset

One calculator (see attached) shows a smaller backspace and am wondering if this will be enough, or will it rub against the brake calipers? (I believe the front calipers are a bit bigger on the M sport package)

Any thoughts if the 20 offset will work...or will I need to put some 15mm spacers?

Thx

You don't need spacers and i think you understand it wrong, if you add 15mm spacer to et20 it would be et5. Lower offset is more out than higher.

Basically it means that compared to your style 193 the wheels would extend 14mm front and 11mm rear.

Fitment wise you can use 17x8 et20 wheels with 225/45/17 tyres. I used to have that combo with my pre-lci e90. I had 10mm rear spacer for extra flushness, but your car is LCI, so you are fine without rear spacers, since the rear track is 8mm/side wider. You would get this kinda look.

But i can't be sure 17 inch wheel will clear your brakes, because 335 has bigger brakes than my 320D. Some 17 inch wheel will clear 335 brakes, but which ones i dont know. I would assume those would fit because the low offset, not sure.

Aha...OK, yes I was reading this the other way around from the picture - I guess I will just have to try these on to see if they clear.

Cheers !
