Apple iOS 8 and later, BMW Bluetooth issues and streaming
So i had a few friends tell me that they cant connect their iphones properly to bmw bluetooth using ios8
do this it works go to settings go to icloud menu logout of icloud go to general menu go to reset reset network settings reconnect your Bluetooth in your bmw after the phone resets log back into icloud hope this helps anyone thats been having issues I cant be held responsible for lost data do this at your own risk done it to 6 phones now with no issues, but still might be a risk to some UPDATE.......... If you have CIC Navigation and want music Bluetooth streaming to work Update your BMW software from here http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html I have Bluetooth streaming fully working and Pandora radio shows up all the info on the split screen You might have to reset all the network settings and pair it again. Works in the latest iOS 9.1 just fine. Last edited by martymil; 03-07-2016 at 09:42 PM.. |

Just ran down to try this. THANK YOU! I had done some Google searching and many said to Reset the Network settings... but none had mentioned the iCloud part. Worked like a charm. So excited to use Bluetooth in the new purchase!

If I think what you mean by cold reset no it won't work, you have to turn iCloud off and reset the network settings and pair the iPhone before you log into iCloud again

Mine paired right away but the iPhone will come up with incompatible device on the screen from time to time. It plays fine and steering wheel controls work. I think the power draw on the USB might be a bit higher than the 4 and 5 iPhones and this pops up the error on the screen. I notice that the 6 doesn't charge very fast if you're using GPS and a map app. Same goes for Escort Live.

As far as I know the usb in the bmw only supports 500 ma and the iPhone 6 can draw more than that, it may be overloading the usb port.
I use the bmw power plug in the cig lighter it does around 1 amp and use Bluetooth to stream music |

It's always great to be a beta tester.

All now good for me with the iOS 8.1 update. But, FFS Apple...you should test all this before release, especially since BMW is often cited as some type of "strategic partner"!

Really weird seeing these issues come up for some people but not others.
Do your cars have iDrive or no? I've had no problem with mine on iOS 8.0, 8.0.2, and now 8.1. With each iOS version my phone happily connected when I got into the car, started streaming music when I used the iDrive controls, and I was able to make and receive calls. I wonder what the difference was? I didn't really do anything fancy or different with iCloud.

I was fine with iOS 8 which came with my iP6...it was the 8.0.2 patch that screwed up my phone's ability to answer or make calls; music still streamed fine. So I didn't have any option but to update as soon as iOS 8.1 was available.

without being a programmer and getting down into the code, apple will never admit to screwing up.
From my deductions and the phones I dealt with it had to do with how the iPhone was named, if it had a complex name it would screw up the Bluetooth connection. Once you reset the network connections it named your iPhone as iPhone and not Gary's iPhone 32 gb or the sort for example. But you had to reset all the network settings to simplify how it handled the Bluetooth connections, but that's only speculation and can't be sure but it worked. |

Hi Guys,
Has anyone had an issue when making a call through BT & you can't hear anything (including ringing), then audio comes through few seconds after the other person has answered their phone? Receiver is sitting on the end of the line for 5 or so seconds before we 'connect' and hear each other..? iPhone 5s, 8.02.. updated OS and phone (from iPhone 5) at the same time Cheers, Simon |

Sorry to bring up this "old" thread, but I have an irritating issue with my iPhone. I had this issue in my old Car's Sony head unit which interfaced with my iPhone via USB cable and now I have it in my 2011 E82 135i MSPORT with CIC/iDrive/Bluetooth streaming.
I'd like to start off by saying that bluetooth streaming works just fine, I get the song name, album name and artist name in my split display and I can go seek track back and track forward. I can also make & receive calls. The problem is as follows: 1. I get out of the car 2. I'm bored at work so I watch something -- e.g. a MP4/Youtube/Vimeo video 3. When I get back in the car, phone auto-pairs music DOES NOT resume, because the video is active in the player. It's almost as if the car is trying to resume my MP4 video / youtube video or whatever. It does NOT automatically resume the last playing music. If I slide up on my iPhone, I see that the youtube video or the MP4 video is what's active in "the player". What I expect should happen is regardless of what the last played item was (be it youtube or a mp4 video), music playback should resume from the last played soundtrack. But what happens is it just resumes the last played media regardless of if it was a youtube video, some MP4 or what have you - which obviously the car can't interpret because it's expecting audio only. Here are some screenshots: In this state, when I get into my car, it'll be all good: http://iforce.co.nz/i/40ch2cas.n2y.png In this state, when I get into my work it WONT stream. I have to manually open music app and play some music. http://iforce.co.nz/i/wahvnvbw.3xp.png http://iforce.co.nz/i/v5b2ig4f.5om.png If anyone can provide insight on this it'd be fantastic. I don't think this is a BMW issue. I do recall this working properly BEFORE 7. iOS 6 and down used to work great but 7 and up just don't. |
