Track drive with Nathan Ponchard of Unique Cars magazine.
Verdict: appreciates the torque, disappointed about power "falling of the cliff" above 5900rpm; he prefers an M3 ("even a second hand one").

This month's Bimmer magazine had a nice article about a professional race car driver who loved the 1M he tested. Pg 42

I site and listen and can only picture this dude stepping out of a bright green Torana SLR...... He definitely is holding on to the past with both hands, or is he just flashbacking to his acid trip days

EVO's end of term. Another reminder why they are the best mag around:
"The 1M soon became by far and away the most coveted car on EVO's fleet". "At the end of the period, such was my affection for this car I asked BMW if I could buy it". "To conclude- well it's obvious really! We loved the 1M. Running it was a dream. It epitomises everything we celebrate at evo and we'll miss it greatly."

Not sure if this is repost, but another review from Unique Cars.
This is probably the first review I've seen where the reviewer gives more negative than positive comments. Personally, I think he's a moron |

Wow, are there any other car reviews from this guy ? I need something else to have a good laugh with and let's face it he makes a better comedian than a car journo lol.

^^^^^ Yeah, but he brings up some good points that I've also thought about...sometimes I forget to take off DSC and even a small left uphill turn near my house causes the car to buck and snort...and that's going casually at 10-20 mph....I don't agree though with buying an M3...no thanks, keeping the 1M

I don´t know is this there, but Ac Schnitzer launch pretty nice tuned 1M. They drive Sachsenring with a lap time of 1:35.80 min, Porsche 997 GT3 laptime is 1:36.10 min whit semi-slics (autobild) Must say that pretty impressive, 1M have lots of potential Maybe Bmw work lot to make stock 1M slower than M3.
Hockenheim circuit laptime Ac Schnitzer 1M 1:11.70 min vs. stock 1:14.10 min (sportauto) or M3 G-power 1:11:80 min. There you can read more "fastest BMW ever": http://www.ac-schnitzer.de/en/bmw-ca...record-charge/ Last edited by Tåst; 01-23-2013 at 10:10 AM.. |
