Here is Scott's list:
* More muscular appearance than standard 1-series * Trapezoid grille flanked by two intakes to allow extra brake cooling * Six piston brakes * High performance intercooler * Sportier looking headlights than standard 1-series * Small lip spoilers above brake duct inlets to provide extra air flow and downforce * The front wings of the car are massaged slightly to accomodate the wider track. Rear end is also wider. * Standard 18" 5-spoke wheels with optional 18" Competition wheels (18" will be the optimium wheel size for the M1) * Signature M side vent * Broader wheel arches to accomodate larger track * "Ducktail" CSL style rear trunk (integrated spoiler) * Rear valance/diffuser area takes its direction from the standard 135i but with open ducts for aerodynamic purpose * Signature M quad exhaust pipes * Reinforced carbon fiber roof

I'm assuming the 5 spoke wheel is the one from the Standard 135i, and the competition would be the famous CSL multispoke

The test mule wheels look like 359M wheels that are available on the M3 as part of the Competition Pkg. ..but I believe those are 19's.
Scott called them 18" Competition wheels. Maybe 18" 359M's??

They are testing both now, the 6-Speed manual and the 7-Speed DCT, but they "might" only offer it in 6-Speed. Nothing is confirmed or official yet. My source could be wrong though! Hope Scott can clarify all of this?

As I said previously M cars test in phases , again here you are looking at the next phase , though still there are details still missing and not relevant to the testing programme yet . That day is still to come... |

The video where the guy stalls the M1 in the parking lot is clearly a DCT. Look closely at his hands, they never reach down for the shift knob as the car shifts. |

Price?!
Based on the information below from BMW's website, I've created a ball park price for the new "M1"... -drumroll-.........
$43,980 (22% increase) - $45,780 (27% price increase) Personally, I think this makes perfect sense. More than a 335i, since it is an "M", but 10k below the M3 price. Thoughts?!? Below is the information I used to calculate the estimate price. BMW 135i - 36,050 BMW "M1" - ?????? BMW 335i Sedan - 40,600 BMW M3 Sedan - 55,400 = 26.8% price increase BMW 335i Coupe - 42,650 BMW M3 Coupe - 58,400 = 27% price increase BMW 335i Convert - 51,200 BMW M3 Convert - 67,050 = 25.7% price increase BMW 550i = 59,700 BMW M5 = 85,700 = 30.4% price increase BMW 650i Coupe = 78,450 BMW M6 Coupe = 102,350 = 25.6% price increase BMW 650i Convert = 85,550 BMW M6 Convert - 108,150 = 21.9% price increase |

isn't the 1-series been out for a good while now? BMW should update the styling first before they bring the M1 out for the market. it already took them a long time to build it. i'd hate the current style only last a year or 2 max.

The first model year for the coupe is 2008. It is now 2010. I dont see a problem. The M1/1M will differ enough once all the tape is off.
