I think about 26K kms on my rears. The fronts seem to last twice as long as the rears do. But tires do not last long on a 135i. Especially a tuned one.
Btw... over here in Germany... its not just a huge fine like 250 euros(for you!) but the Polizei can also impound your car and let you walk home. Then you have to get a COMPLETE new TUV which is $$$! Plus (+6)points on your license. A German friend of mine had that happen to his German plated car. His wheels were 19's instead of 18's and stuck outside of the fenders by 10mm. It was a PITA.

tires pre-ordered...
already saw the 225/35R18.... wwooooowwwww the got presence yes they do.... Next monday i will fit one front + one rear to check visually. One thing it creaps me up is that the Michelin tires comparing to the rest of brandes, in the side they bend like no others....this is tipical from all michelin tires why?? I checked along with some S001 from bridgestone and theres no comparison |

One thing... my tires did rub a tiny bit when new. Only in the rear AND only when one of the rear wheels would go thru an entire suspension compression. It goes away though - I only heard that tiny bit of rubbing for the first 400kms. I think it was the "rubber strangs" from the tire mold rubbing on the inner fender liner. No big deal. I am running the 225/255's on my factory wheels - they work just fine. So I don't see why you would need to test fit yours. ? Dackel

I just had Michelin PSS installed on my 135. The ride has definitely improved. I have a rubbing issue, starting another thread for that.

Mine rubbed just a tad and only when the left rear wheel went thru a full motion of travel. But this goes away after a few hundred kilometers. I think its just the "stringy things" that stick out from the tire when the tire mold is injected at the tire factory. Really this slight rubbing goes away after a few hundred kilometers. Nothing to worry about.

Hi there,
first impression. Improved a lot regarding riding conform. mainly in bad roads. I fell more suspension working. if you know what i mean. The front axel seems to be more slipy (slip) but i just had 200km with them and i'm sure the gum from demoulding the tire is still there. Need more 300-400km on highway to get a more real opinion. |

Yup, that is what I noticed too. The suspension feels like it now moved up and down more. As IF the tires are working WITH the suspension instead of just acting like hard stones. With RFT's you can really feel the tires hang up in the air when going over bad/rough pavement. With the PS3's the tires actually ABSORB some of the pavement imperfections. Yes, you need at least 400 km's for the tires to have some stick. At first the tires have a lot of slip & squirm to them bc they are new. I also run with max tire pressures to have decent feedback from the tire. I always drive fast (over 150 mph) and I like that hard solid sidewall "feeling/response' from my tires. PS: Did you have any rubbing issues? Just curious. ?

Perhaps this cutaway of normal tires vs RFT will help people understand how much beefier runflat (RFT) tires are in the sidewall construction.

Rubbing = contact Webster's definition... 1. a : to move along the surface of a body with pressure : grate. b (1) : to fret or chafe with or as if with friction Some members have reported a slight (small) rubbing or contact with the tire to the body of the car. I only noticed this for the first few hundred km's and did not even think to mention it in my original post. I don't think it effects many cars, since I have only seen three people talk about rubbing (contact issues) with the rear 255's tires to the inner body of the car.

Noted!! Sorry. When I first look the tires on place I got scared because tyre was really close to the car body and one of the suspension arms.... but this was with car "on air", when I placed the car down all appears to be much more distant. I went for a ride and made 3 slides to make sure no contact was felt. I removed again the rear tire and apparently no contact at all. Dont forget I have an E81 that might be slightly different from E82. Next week after 400km I will check again and remove the tire again to make sure no marks on the tyre/body work or suspension arm. |

A few months ago, I replaced my rear tires with new 255's PS3's. I was quite shocked in that the tire prices have fallen quite a bit. I think the tires were like 40% cheaper than two years ago.

Got the 225/255 setup in MPSS. I have some significant rubbing on left rear tire under compression. Can someone send me a picture of their inner fender on the left rear? My right rear seems to be somewhat more "rolled" than the left. May just have to get the left rolled somewhere, or do it myself. I just don't want to ruin my new tires or the body of my car. Regards.

Thanks Dack. I have driven about 450 miles on them already, I'm gonna keep my eye on them. I can definitely tell where the fender is hitting the tire. I will post a picture tomorrow.

The correct tire sizes should read/be...
225/40ZR18 94Y 255/35ZR18 92Y Btw... BMW themselves use this tire size on many new models now.
