New to the 130 world, mine's pretty much stock except for the BMWP intake. Looking for some new wheels and that might do me... I think. We'll see!
Keen for a bit of a drive in Sydney if anyone else is. |

Another 130i in Melbourne here.
I'm keen to start a group of us to meet periodically (every quarter?) and do whatever basic servicing is required, eg fluid changes, filter changes, brake pads, anti-squeek solutions etc. The idea is to get together, share knowledge, share tools (eg oil filter wrench), get to know the cars a bit better, save a lot of money. Apart from the regular maintenance items, many on the forum have had success with the CDV delete and clutch stop - we could make a day to group buy and modify? Also, there have been discussions on the best fluids for the gearbox (redline?) - same deal. |

wow, nice group, i dont come on here much, but this is awesome!..
I've got a SGM 130i, with Quaife LSD, 135i front brakes, BMS powerbox, and CDV, and the KN filter from the intake :P (went the cheap option) lol yeh, can't do much else to our ole 130i's. Other mods as other's have mentioned are: BMWP exhaust BMWP intake, some ppl get the M3 suspension bits. I've seen the blue port melbourne 130i zipping around couple of times :P, i'm normally heading down hoddle, and around port melbs in the mornings. |

a quick question for 130i's
What water temps do you get when your driving around town in start stop traffic? It currently sits at 80C in traffic, (hovering around 78-84), on freeway > 100kmh it goes to 95-97C. I'm thinking its abit cold to be honest. you can get to them via (from another website): "Put key into car but dont hit any pedals, and press start. Hold reset for ten seconds (on cluster next to speedo) once into menu your vin will be displayed vn12345 (simply add you vin together ie 1+2+3+4+5=15). Hold reset for another 3 seconds until 01.__ is displayed Now press reset 19 times until onto menu 19 once on 19 "lock on" is displayed and then "00" when you see 00 quickly press reset the number of times your vin adds too, ie 15. display should read "lock on 15" then will disappear back to 01.00. hold down reset for another 3 seconds until 01.-- is displayed then press reset 7 times to goto menu 7 Once in menu 7 your real time coolant temps are displayed. Start your car (note turn off the car will undo the above) " |

Hi,
Nice to see more 130i owner popping up, especially lacking in Melbourne. Mine does the same. It runs cooler at traffic and sometimes when cruising at 80kms. It always sits around at 100C when going at 100kms or above. Ken Quote:

Just thought I'd throw up a pic after putting the new wheels and grilles on. Pretty happy with it so far.
Great car, probably just upgrade the brakes to stock 135i's next. Would be keen to set up a bit of a drive if any other 130i's are interested... Last edited by nasperated; 02-07-2013 at 03:06 AM.. |

Been a while since I've been on this forum and its great to see lots of Melb 130i drivers popping up! PM one of us your Facebook details so we can add you to the Melbourne 130i group. Looking forward to some meet ups and drives once I get back to Melbourne later this month!

Brakes
...I guess not
Anyhoo, anyone with a 130i done a brake upgrade to the stock 135i brakes? Getting conflicting reports of the difficulty (mods required etc), so keen to know from anyone who's done it. Cheers. |
