OK, here's my question: I have a '13 135i and the Cobb, as far as I know, does not work on the 2013 DME's; they supposedly have different encryption???
Is there any way to code off the nannies on a 2013?

What is the necessary hardware to code the modules off? Cobb AP? Or can you do it with something simpler + a laptop?

Ap has nothing to do with coding. You have a lot of reading to do. Look at the coding forum on e90post or check out b m w c o d I n g dot com.

Any updates from folks on the brake params and what they are on an N52 128? Still trying to figure this stuff out, the shop who's done my other coding can't find the params (other than brake fade compensation, and diff lock). I'll happily toss some cash to whoever can get me an answer to this...

Not finding any shops locally (Colorado) that use NCS/INPA.
Has anyone used a remote coding service that they could recommend. I reached out to c o d e my c a r DOT com, which I found on craigslists, about the DSC programs but haven't heard back. Thanks |

I pretty certain that COF_BB_RAB wert_00 is the active state for Braking Readiness. my June'13 production 135is has it set that way and it definitely has it active. wert_00 is the other existing parameter in the COF map it is for "4zyl" 4 cylinder models. -- I'd assume it turns RAB off. Does anyone know for sure? I found this 2005 press release from conti on the MK60 module Quote:

If you pop the pins for the DSC/ABS connection to the DME all the nannies will be defeated as the DSC module ceases to do anything. That's how the shop preps their racecars to have ABS only. No coding necessary other than to turn off the lights on the dash. They'll be doing this to my car before it leaves the shop. FYI

I actually don't mind having it enabled though. I've lifted from the gas in panic situations on the street and it's a welcomed surprise to have a pre-tensioned brake. On track, many drivers give the brakes a quick tap to pre-tension the brakes prior to a corner anyway... HSA, SSA, and BBV are good parameters to know about, but they will not effect the car on track. Did you notice anything that matches RBS (rain brake assist)? I think I saw a similar description in NCSDummy, but I don't remember for sure. I think it was called "brake drying?" Last edited by bNks334; 06-02-2016 at 02:42 PM.. |

Looking at a DSC fault report, the following items are worth looking into for the people looking to alter the level of intervention of DSC/ASC:
5E20 5E20 - pressure sensor 1 electrical faulty. Error counter: 9 Logistic counter: 40 Mileage 109240 km Vehicle speed 117.00 km/h Brake light switch 0.00 0/1 switch brake fluid level 0.00 0/1 ASC/DSC_aktive (status of ASC/DSC_switch) 1.00 0/1 brake pressure identified 0.00 0/1 ABS-active 0.00 0/1 ASC-active (BMR) 0.00 0/1 (Braking torque control - C0F_ASC_BMR_STB) ASC-active (AMR) 0.00 0/1 (Drive torque control - C0F_ASC_AMR_STB) GMR-active (GMR) 0.00 0/1 (Mixture regulator - C0F_GMR_MAX_LIMIT_SCHRAEG and C0F_GMR_MIN_LIMIT_SCHRAEG) Throttle tilt? GMR-active (MMR) 0.00 0/1 ( Yaw moment control) CBC-active 0.00 0/1 (N/A to 128i?) MSR-active 0.00 0/1 (Engine drag torque control, usually proper name - C0F_PRE_MSR) TDR-active 0.00 0/1 SDR-active 0.00 0/1 DBC-active 0.00 0/1 (Dynamic brake control - C0F_DBC_MIN_AUSLOESEDRUCK) Min Trip Force / Triggering Pressure RTA active 1.00 0/1 Run-Up Mode 0.00 0/1 Most of these items are set to Wert_00 and have a data value of 0. I am not sure what the significance of that is other than assuming that the parameter is doing nothing. See C0F_CBC as an example. Value is Wert_00 and so is the data value of the Hex. 1M definitely utilizes CBC, but I am guessing the other 1's don't have it programmed? I did a comparison, and a rough translation, of a 128i trace file to a 135i and 135is trace file. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing It does not look like the MK60 module for the 135is is coded any differently than the 135i. You'd have to look into the values/formulas of the 135i parameters to determine if its worth coding a 128i to 135i values. There are people on the M3 forums experimenting with changing C0F_ASC_BMR_STB, C0F_DRUCKMODELL_HA, C0F_UEBERSTEUERN_MUE_0, and C0F_UNTERSTEUERSCHWELLE to GTS values with notable changes in DSC intervention. Personally, I just turn everything off on track anyway so I wont pursue it further. Last edited by bNks334; 06-02-2016 at 11:53 AM.. |

OK guys, I disabled C0C_DIFF_LOCK (set to wert_00 & wert_01) and e-diff is still kicking in with the LSD. The car is still anti-burnout lol. Could it be because my SP DATEN used is older than what is on the car? I used v41 files from 2011. The car's software was updated by the dealership in 2012.
(When reading the DSC modules in NCS Expert, the one that is shown is MK60_87.C0C instead of MK60_87.C0F like everyone else here) |

E-diff kicks in when trying to do a hard launch and kills any chance of intentional spin on either wheel because it applies the rear brakes in rapid pulses as soon as slip is detected. This also occurs when applying throttle at extreme slip angles on the skidpad or out of tight corners on an autocross course. It interferes with the mechanical LSD and prevents you from having 100% control of the car.

I don't have that issue even without disabling the eDiff (and have a mechanical LSD). Are you running with traction control on or something?

Yeah from what I've read from BMW press releases the e-diff activates when a greater than 5% differential in wheel speed is detected... Your LSD would have to be allowing at least that much of a differential for the e-diff to even begin to apply itself.
DSC/ASC (DTC) detect and manage wheel spin. The E-diff just try's to keep both wheels spinning within 5% of each-other whether you have traction or not. Double check in NCSDummy that the data value is 0 for the corresponding wert values you are using? You aren't the first person in the thread to speculate the e-diff is still intervening... Traction control always fully disengaged. I can hear and feel the brake pulses by the e-diff when throttle is added during extreme slip angles and slides. It manifests as a rough vibration through the chassis and is quite loud at times. Quote:
I really had high hopes the e-diff would stop intervening as brakthru reported. I used the same v41 DATEN files as he did... Anyway, I'll look at the data values and report back. |
