I agree. Hands Down.

Those pics will generate more hits and replies than Bimmerista's famous "How fast have you gone" thread, or even my "Can I say it, I love my Step!" thread OR Tom's "Post pics of your crib" thread!!!

We should take bets now on how many replies and hits the thread will get. We can even try and keep annonymous the car owner's identity.....

Bimmerista, I really like the new shifter of the X5....but then I like pickup trucks and Mustnags too LOL!

It will be interesting to see how the new X5 tests in rear crashes.
As it is the current model is POOR.
http://www.iihs.org/ratings/head_res...aints.aspx?bmw

and the XC90 is a Top Pick (of course).

http://www.iihs.org/ratings/summary.aspx?class=50

Believe me, Sophie can drive her Princess Jeep about as well as I drive my Bimmer.....a few phone books may be all she needs!!

I even send them a thank you email now LOL!!

Master Bullshitter?

Stew's car transactions since 2004:

May 2004: Traded in 2000 Saab 9-3, bought 2004 325i.
November 2004: Bought CPO 2002 BMW X5 3.0
May 2005: Traded in BMW, leased Subaru Legacy GT
September 2005: Assigned Subaru Lease, bad seats, lousy handling.
October 2005: Bought E90
May 2006: Sold 1998 GMC Jimmy
November 2006: Traded in 2002 BMW X5 for CPO 2004 BMW X5

Let's see...........I would say I have a pretty good case for being an impulsive buyer, a virtual powderkeg of purchasing power ready to unleash itself at the oddest of moments......at least when I go in I'm honest about my timeframe for a possible next purchase, and I wait for them to offer me the drive.....it's a blast really, driving all these different vehicles...after all, you can read magazines until you're blue in the face but until you try a car you really dont get it, and the mags are mostly all positive.

And if I'm wearing you guys down with all my drives...sorry! But my wife really doesn't want to hear about them!

I don't know, my "how fast..." thread is one of the highest number of hits and replies (other than the stickies) - every now and then it keeps coming back.

Wholly guacamoli - I never realised that even the old X5 was so poorly rated in rear crash tests.

Score one for the XC90 in the "what-will-the-wife-get-if-the-wife-gets-three-rows-of-seats-as-the-next-car" sweepstakes.

Pretty much a no-brainer, eh?

I'm thinking our next configuration is:

X3 for wife
F-150 or Silevrado for husband

or

Current X5 for wife
Mustang GT for husband (cheaper on gas than F150 or Silverado)

BTW my car goes in Thursday for the "stablink", and I got a check engine light this morning so they'll make that go away at the same time.

Yeah -from our last meeting it did sound like your wife liked the tighter pacakge of the X3.

realistically, since I can't think of a reason we need three rows of seats, we are also getting another X3 for the "familly car".

Be sure you can live with driving the F150 day-in-day-out, especially the comute (gas, parking etc.).

I still think your next cars should be:

wife-X3

Stew- 1 series coupe

farm-2000 Ford F-150 with crew cab

3 brand new X5s in the delivery bay. Two 4.8si and one 3.0si. Ironically they are all the same colour, the X5 equivalent of Sparkling Graphite. One of the 4.8ers has a tan interior (darker than our beige but not reddish in colour) - absolutely exquisit. The others are SG on black. I must admit the new X5 is one good loking SAV, and I do agree that, while it looks big, it does not come off as too big (even though it is 4cms longer than the Volvo XC90). The tranny shifter looks really gay (not that there is anything wrong with that)

One concern I have is that the third row (which in fact are 2 jump seats not fit for adults) is behind the rear axle, which exposes the occupants - which will inevitably be children (or in-laws ) to a higher risk of injury in the event of a rear end collision. I just hope that the seats are mounted on top of the frame and not after it ends, as is the case with the third row in some minivans, since that would make the 3rd row dangerous in my mind. One of the things I really respect Volvo for is placing their third row right on top of the rear axle - doesn't get safer than that in case of accident for those occupants.

Anyways, tomorrow is the big day...................next posting will be accompanied by fresh pics of my new e90
I am seriously in love with the X5. It is so beautiful... and I have yet to see it in person.

Finally the day has come. I look forward to seeing the pics.

We'll all have to just ignore the inevitably annoying remarks that will be posted, it should be a good thread though.

The post your cribs thread: 340 replies 29,148 views

I can't find Bimmerista's "how fast" thread.

Keep the test drive info coming. I think you could get a pretty good car review blog going with all the test drives you've done, not to mention all the cars you've actually had in the last 2 years.

Yeah, nice configuration.

I love this 1 series commercial (even though I have no clue what he's saying):

Well it depends on which "home" you're talking about But yes, she has a house in Ste-Rose by the river. A huge house that is. But it is not all that close to my place. I live further north. Wolf is closer to her ! Not like that changes anything

Here we go talking about chicks and trucks again.

And here is the Top Gear comparo vs. the R32....this video is why I tried the GTI...

I find once you admit the 1 series would be fun, you then have to admit that a lot of smaller cars can be fun.......and a lot cheaper too!

Hey, why not add an interesting twist? We could make a poll out of it (Who did it?) with every participant's name as a possible answer and see who is perceived as more likely to have tried ramming a beaver dam, before the real name's out?

Now that should get some answers!

Although a little detective work in our "private thread" would reveal that in about 5 seconds, no?
