This thread deserves some clean up... and not to hide anything, we all know about everything being said here. However its taking away from the subject of the thread which is about 3-15 dic maps and how they are functioning.

- i'd really suggest searching the youtube how to's regarding navigating the procede Command Center. it's going to involve having the ingition fully on (not engine) and pulling back the cruise control stalk to engage the Command Center and then pulling the cruise stalk back twice to Mode 3 (shown on the rpm tack as 3)..then clocking up to 12 (shown as 120 on the kilometers per hour)..then hitting the cruise stalk button in to "select" 12..then repeating for 11..10..9..etc. Step 6 - when the procede software is up and running (car ignition on and procede connected), there is an option on the comms menu to reset the procede Last edited by infinitekidM2C; 03-28-2011 at 01:17 PM.. |

well... if I see another post about VIN locking I'll be sick....
ON TOPIC... I had to drive to a customer today and this was highway mileage. This was probably one of the toughest things I have had to do, and I did it all for Shiv - I drove to get GOOD mileage rather than fun. Just for you Shiv... and I will have you know it was as tough as giving a kidney would be.... Crusing at 140 kmh = 87 mph, and gently increasing speed "normally" - some stop and go... and for about 100 kms or about 60 miles. I was averaging 9.6 l/100 kms for our friends across the border, this is: 24.5 mpg Catless DPs, AMS FMIC, Procede Map 2, 94 Ultra Sunoco This is BETTER than when I had my Dinan S2 chip, I was getting 9.9 average with that one - no Catless DPs or FMIC though. Not sure how much they contribute to the mileage. I thought this was pretty good for a car with close to 380 to 400 RWH (I think). In fact, I was thrilled with this. Now, let me tell you I could careless about mileage....I didn't do all of this for mileage. On the weekend I was lovin this thing and pounding it ALL the time. I averaged 14 l/100kms or 16.8 mpg. It is going to take pliers to get the smile off my face. I wonder what an M3 would get if you pounded it all weekend. I have heard that they get like 25 l/100 or 9.4 mpg... (not confirmed, just what I have read). What I did notice and was looking for was how refined and smooth the power came on and came off... almost imperceptable turbo lag. if you ease into it, no lag, if you suddenly need a squirt of power, then yes lag of course. The linear nature of the pedal - watching the boost guage is really cool. Nice job Shiv, it really is very good.

I, too, am very impressed with the fuel economy. I just completed a 2.5 hr highway trip and averaged 29.4 mpg on map 1, cruising @ about 2700-2900 RPM! Gobs of power with great fuel economy.... not much more you can ask for.

One of the key elements of a tune is behavior of the car in relationship to your right foot.
You can literally dial in boost with your foot. I sometimes go around shooting for 5 PSI. 8PSI. 10PSI. and 15PSI and happy I can do such. |

Since we are on the subject of gas mileage with these maps, this past weekend driving conservatively I managed 26.2 MPG on Map 1 out of 300 mile trip consisting of 80% cruising at 45-60 MPH and 20% 65-77 MPH. There was very little stop and go. I am taking a 480 mile trip in a couple weeks and since its going to be almost entirely interstate cruising, would I be better off on Map 0? I obviously won't need the extra power while cruising, but does the Procede still lean out Map 0 a tad bit during cruise conditions or does that only function on Maps 1 & 2? I know gas mileage is dependent on driving style so for this instance, is Map 0 or Map 1 going to return better fuel economy at 100% interstate speeds between 70-85 or would they likely be identical?

So went away for the weekend with about 6 hrs of highway time on the new maps. Everything runs flawless!
One question though, does it seem that the boost starts around 12 psi(4K rpm) and climbs to 14.5 closer to redline, like the procede to trying to keep your car at its best potential without extra wheel spin??? |

I'm not sure about the new maps, but on old maps you weren't supposed to switch while at speed.

Also interested what you guys have found as the best map set up for fuel economy? I have been running map 4 with meth, I'm averaging 22.1mpg, with 80% highway at 80-85MPH and 20% 40-60MPH city.

Hmm in the Tune comparison thread it states you can switch maps on-the-fly and I haven't read anything stating otherwise, but could very easily be misinformed. Can others confirm or deny this? I'd rather not chance it if its a bad thing.

I gained an increase in fuel economy, especially if you let cruise control do the work. It isn't a far fetched idea in the slightest. As long as you can keep your foot off the go button that is.
![]() My GF's car had a huge bump in fuel economy with a standalone tuned properly as well. 5-6 MPG more consistently. (Not a 335i) The point is most stock ECU's run on the rich side as a measure of protection and as a lowest common denominator for fuel quality and octane. This can be tuned out. I believe the Procede specifically has a lean cruise setting at low rpm and throttle application as well. |

Why should this be perplexing? No one said or implied they bought a tune for better fuel economy or to get better than stock MPG. Simply asking which map to choose for optimal fuel economy under certain conditions, i.e. cruise set on the interstate, is not too far fetched. Especially considering the Procede has the lean cruise feature and wondering if this is active with Map 0 as well as Map 1 & 2.

Guys, how do you select map 4 for meth on this new beta maps? I can only seem to select up to map 3 using the cruise control stick?
