Oil Pan gasket Replacement?

My shop keeps suggesting that I replace the oil pan gasket, on my 2011 135I, since it is leaking. I have never seen any oil in my garage floor or any oil loss indicated by the car. I'm not against the idea but they are saying that my engine mounts need to be replaced because they are deteriorated due to the oil leak. Make sense? What say you?

Certainly sounds plausible to me.

OPG is a known 100k maintenance item on these cars. Motor mounts are too, maybe to a lesser extent on mileage and more depending on how hard the car has been driven. Oil contamination is also a contributing factor; it causes the rubber to swell up and deteriorate rapidly.

And if they're doing the pan gasket, they're already doing about 80% of the required work for motor mounts.

By the time you actually see oil on the floor, it's probably pretty significant. These cars have pretty generous undercladding, which is sort of like carrying a drip pan under the engine.

Knowing how all BMW engines enjoy lazily pissing oil, I sometimes wonder how much the undertrays were designed with the intent of hiding leaks, as opposed to reducing drag and keeping the elements out.

All of my experience is with the N52, but this advice should generally apply to the boosted cars as well.

At 13-ish years old you're probably due for an OPG replacement- if it's not leaking now it will be soon. Ditto with the engine mounts and may as well have em do the trans mounts as well (they're cheap).

Heck, while you're in there, well, while they're in there, may as well have em do the water pump & thermostat too. If they haven't been done already that water pump is on borrowed time for sure.
