M3 Front Fenders Replica
So everyone is making replicas of a lot of m3 parts for the e90's and e92's, but when you look for an m3 the first thing I look at is the front fender.
Just curious as to why no one has made a replica m3 fender for e92s? I found some on the german ebay but after hours of searching this site I haven't seen a single person running them which is odd. Any reasoning why? |

Mainly because the OEM fenders are not very expensive from the get go.
Around $600 for both. There is a member selling a pair for 500 brand new right now I think. So replica fenders that dont fit as good as OEM for what $400? Also just doing a wide fenders in the front and not in the back looks strange and unproportional. If your doing a m3 look-a-like just go all OEM. if not just get the front bumper + sideskirts. You will be the only person that knows its not a m3... -Travis |

OEM fenders either require purchasing OEM M front bumper, hood and headlight brackets or some major modifications/fabrication to get them to sit flush with non-M parts. A simple bolt on M3 replica fender would be a pretty sweety mod.

But if your talking about a stock e92 front fender with the m3 grills in them, than yes it will work with non-m parts, but will also just be ricey having no purpose. No one will buy those besides m3 posers. -Travis |

There are M3 replica bumpers which serve no purpose so why not m3 replica fenders? I'm sure there would be a huge market for them and its a good opportunity for a vendor to cash in. You could put a turn signal in them instead of the m3 grill.... all cosmetic upgrades serve no real purpose.. does not mean they are total rice.
And we have more then enough people willing to be m3 posers, so someone should cash in on that.

I like how people throw the word "ricey" on everything.

I don't think it's cost effective...if they offered replica m3 front fenders it would require they make two versions of the m3 replica front bumper...one to fit the wider fenders and one for normal E9x non-m fenders (like they have out now)...considering the m3 front bumper replicas are relatively pretty new on the market I don't think they will have them anytime soon...
It's very possible in the near future but realistically it would never achieve the sales that the normal non-M front bumper will bring in..so possible in the near future but since sales margin will be lower most companies will opt to keep making the current style bumpers...

To add, they make m3 style front, sides, and rear. Why not make the fenders to complete it...!! ![]()

With a bolt on m3 replica fender, one can opt to simply buy replica m3 sides and front bumpers and then just swap out the fender and you have an easy m3 conversion.
People who already have m3 sides or an m3 front or even both could compliment them with a nice M3 fender.

The replica fender would have no purpose. You couldnt run a wider rim... M3 fenders are only functional when they are wider to accommodate larger rim/tires. The one thing I can say would be a cool thing for a vendor to produce is a m3 wide front conversion that lets you keep the stock e92 hood, headlight brackets, and radiator support. I will buy that kit if you can get that made ![]() -Travis |

Hey guys all the stuff you guys are talking about is getting made by a company called Project M. They are making the Fenders wide as M3 spec or they may shape it down just a tad. From what I have heard is that the M3 fenders are 20mm wider than our 335s. Project M is making their fenders either to that width or a little bit smaller. They told me all you would have to do is have a body shop cut your bumper along the side and extend the bumper so it matches the fenders. Here are some pics from BimmerFest. He has Authentic M5 wheels on in the Front!!!

I guess a way to do an overfenders without really modding the front bumper is a fender that completes it's wheel well and goes over the bumper a bit. And the part that the fender covers is where you would have to cut out on the front bumper. So you would create a lower fender line, probably starts to taper off to the bottom of the headlights. Just an idea to make it work..?! kind of like putting a top part of a csl trunk on top of the oem trunk...! Then someone will ask, what about the fender liner..? I haven't thought that far yet! hmmm...

A widebody conversion that lets you keep all those parts and just run a wider front bumper or even keep OEM bumper would be something amazing indeed. Running wider WHEELS up front is something I'm definitely looking into for track purposes, but the majority of people are just interested in cosmetics vs actual functionality.

Liking a lot of Project M's work as of late, I think I will end up buying a lot of stuff from them once its ready. Waiting on the e92 csl overlay to see how it turns out.
