DIY and wiring diagram for bmw e91 to change amp
I will replace the original amp in the car and need to know which cable goes to which speaker.
I'll replace all the speakers but want to use the car's original wiring to avoid pulling new. The car is a BMW e91 with 10 speakers and one amp.

I have a 2010 E91 with the HiFi option.
Since I didn't want to cut any wires I bought a kit from Technic with the harness, power cables with OEM battery connector and some OEM speaker connectors. I must say that Technic's harness is a great product, PnP to the factory wiring. I have installed a JL Audio XD600/6 using the harness and power cables and it has been working great so far. Still to come, when time allows, are new components in the front including new underseat woofers.

Can you comment on the sound improvement?
How much better is the sound and what are your gain and Hi pass Lo pass settings on the amp.

ctuna; I would say better control and I also find the tweeters less harsh on higher volumes. I'm still on the OEM speakers so I haven't done much tuning. I think I have Hi/Lo set to 160-180Hz as indicated on the amp.
Gain is still at min for now. I have a set of Rainbow SLC 210.25 for the front and Audiosystem AX 08 for the underseats that will be installed later.

Thanks for the reply
How the bass from the underseats?
So you would say things are modestly better? When you complete please give a review thanks. |

Yes I would say a modest improvement, probably possible to get more out of it with tuning (which I'm no expert on).
The bass is lacking. I assume that the underseats have lower sensitivity so I might try to raise the gain slightly on those channels.

I would definitely raise the gain on those channels, since the HiFi amp has more power on those channels than the front and rear channels, and the JL is the same output on all channels.
But you definitely are running a risk with the stock woofers - they are known to blow with aftermarket power. Just be aware. BTW, I'd be interested in any vehicle mods you did for your E91. My warranty is almost up and I'm getting ready to do more than just audio... |

Yesterday I raised the gain on the woofer channels and it got better.
I'm aware of the risk so I try to keep the volume down. The idea is to eventually change the speakers but I was just so keen on trying out Technic's harness so I installed the JL amp. No other mods done yet, took the car out of the dealership November last year so a lot of warranty left. If I do anything it will probably be minor cosmetic mods.
