Injector knock/tick? Bad injector? N54 VIDEO INSIDE...
Well this noise was always here with my 2008 335xi but I dont think it was ever this loud. My car seems ok no codes at all but recently my AVG_IGN went from 0 to 3.5 out of the blue in my logs and the car keeps jumping to map 4. Car starts rough but I am also running E30-35 in it. Other than this no other symptoms are present besides the noise. I am wondering if this can cause (sorry for the noob question) but False Knock?? I get NO CODES nothing at all with this no misfire no lean or rich codes etc. Would a aftermarket warranty cover an injector that is noisy? I can almost bet its leaking too but would hate to rack up a diagnosis bill and not have it covered... I set the phone down alittle after half way thru the video and rev the car a bit and the noise disappears at Decel (when injectors shut off). This is at full operating temp. Sounds like it is from the front cylinders almost 100% on that.

I was having the same noise and also had index 8 injectors put via the recall.
In my case first go around that noise disappeared after shutting off and restarting. However few days later I had cel light with half engine light and with white smoke and smell of gas everywhere. However, I did have cell lit with code P0172 for few months that was under diagnosis from yours truly. And just before my incident dealer's diagnostic showed multiple leaking injectors and heavily fouled spark plugs (from leaky injectors). My guess is that you are where I was few months ago. I suggest injector diag before you burn out your cat converter with fuel. Or like one poster said on my thread that I run the risk of bending my rods. good luck and subscribed.... |

Whenever it's not noisy outside while driving, I can even hear the noise inside the cabin. I changed a faulty Low Pressure Fuel sensor and I could hear the louder noise from the very first time I started the car. Very annoying. Can I diagnose in INPA any possible faulty injector(s)?
I also experience rough idles (and sometimes accelerations without any fault code) |
