I have a 2011 328i and have recently switched to the second key as it just looks more refreshed than the first key. I have had no issues until today, when I came home went inside and my dad informed me when he got home that windows were down and the roof open. thinking maybe I had been sat on the unlock button I went out and rolled them up, but when I got out the key would not lock car, and seconds later everything opened again.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is this an internal key issue?

It sounds like the unlock button is stuck in an active state. Could be mechanical, could be electrical. Switch back to the other key and if the problem resolves, there is something wrong with the "newish" key fob.
