18" wheel tyres on msport F34

So I've been looking at the available all season tyres online and unless one buys a sShebang or Goodroad tyres they cost £150 a corner.
Plus staggered means fronts are pricier than rears.
I was intending to do 8js all round, plus I wanted to get away from run flats... by having a spare.
If I did this with staggered I'd get a spare front and an emergency-ish spare rear. But still looking at best part of £240 (2 × rear) + £450 (3× front).

So I'm also looking for alloy wheel sets and I see many sets fresh off F3x cars with 40 (instead of 45) aspect ratio tyres on... with cracks and buckles..

I'm wondering if I put on 225 50s if they'd pickup on the arches?

225 50s are 30% cheaper in premium brands.

The other ponder is insurance...

I run a 19” 245/40 which is nearly identical in diameter to a 225/50 so no issues there. I will say if you want to go any wider a 225 is stretched even on a 8.5j, so consider that.

Hum... This is new. Staggered means that rears are wider than fronts, thus rears are more expensive due to their larger width (extra material used in manufacture). Never heard of fronts being more expensive in staggered set-ups.

In winter I run a square set-up of OEM style 281 rims (off F06/F10/F12), 18x8J ET30 with 245/45/R18 winter tires. No wheel spacers.

Car is lowered at the front only, thus the arch gap is nearly same front to rear.

My F34 came from the dealer with the optional 19" style 673 non-staggered wheels, with a tire size Front / Rear: 19x8, 225/45 R19

After much deliberation, i choose to downsize to 18" 400M wheels. I picked up a set of 18x8" non-staggered 400M wheels and choose to use tire size Front / Rear: 245/45 R18 and using non-run flat Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06+.

I plan to have some pictures soon, but 245/45 R18 fit with plenty of room to spare. (This is also very close to the standard tire size using an online calculator).
I also have slightly more sidewall now which gives a smoother ride. The ride quality is very much improved, I'd say its a 50% improvement over the 19" run flats. It's likely a combination of moving to non-run flats as well as a smaller tire with more sidewall.

I run 18x8 405Ms and 18x8 397s (winters) on my UK F31 touring with zero issues; both sets of tyres (Goodyear Assym 6s for summers, Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen 3s for winters) in 235/45/18 sizes and they're spot on for the very rough, untreated and unloved roads local to me here in Lancashire

405Ms (summers):

397s (winters):

OEM size is 225/45; I've gone a size wider to have a better, straighter sidewall and better rim protection, but also better tyre contact patch! All non RFTs also

And ZERO issues with insurance

Thats good to hear. I'm quite alarmed by the amount of 40s on 18" tyres i see on second hand rims. They seem to be a lot cheaper though.

Are those 18 or 19" rims on there? I think this is a bonkers engined F31 with big disks? I like this style wheel and was curious what it looked like in black. Question now is can I find 4.. 5 off, recondition fit news sensors and shoe them before autumn. Without any bank breaking...
